The Rainbow Fishes 2017-2023
My latest series, The Fishes, mark the culmination of my journey towards finding my artistic identity and style. Inspired by stain glass Art, my work blends spiritual symbolism, elements of sacred geometry, like the circle and triangle with a strong focus on colours, aimed at creating art that is both accessible and joyful while also containing deeper meaning and intention.
This collection of acrylic paintings on canvas, is showcasing my attention to detail and mastery of colours and forms. Each piece is created through a meticulous process of layering and refining, where I strives to find the perfect balance, harmony, and proportion. The size of the lines and the combination of shapes and tints are carefully considered, resulting in works that take several months to complete and resulting in a high quality finish. These works are a testament of my dedication to finding the ideal formula that brings the composition to life.
Fish have been a symbol of many things throughout history, including abundance, wealth, fertility, and even spiritual enlightenment.
In modern art, fish continue to hold a rich symbolic significance.
In abstract expressionism, for example, fish can represent the subconscious and the emotional realm, often appearing in fragmented forms that suggest fragmented memories or experiences.
In pop art, fish may be used as a commentary on consumer culture, reflecting our relationship with the natural world and our commodification of it.
In contemporary art, fish can take on a range of meanings, from representations of freedom and fluidity to critiques of environmental degradation and the exploitation of marine life.
Some artists also use fish as a metaphor for the human condition, exploring themes of identity, mortality, and the struggle for survival.
Overall, the symbolic significance of fish in modern art continues to evolve and expand, reflecting the changing attitudes and values of society and the art world. Whether as a symbol of our relationship with nature, a commentary on consumer culture, or an exploration of the human experience, fish remain a powerful and enduring symbol in modern art."
The circle symbolises unity, wholeness, and infinity, while the triangle represents stability, structure, and spiritual ascension.
All these symbols are seamlessly integrated into my work to add depth and meaning. I also have a natural sense of colours and composition, which adds an extra layer of depth and invites viewers to engage and connect with my art on a deeper level.
I am also deeply interested in the therapeutic properties of colour. I believe that each hue holds the power to evoke different emotions and physical sensations, and I strive to use this knowledge to create art that has a positive impact on the viewer's well-being. In my work, I aim to play with colour in a way that soothes the mind, lifts the spirit, and invigorates the senses. I hope that my art will leave a lasting impression of peace and positivity."
